Volunteer20 Seeks Opinions on Giving Time to Help Others
Findings to Benefit
CONTACT and Other Not-for-profit Community Agencies;
Eligible Survey Participants Can Enter to Win $500 for Themselves or Charity or Other
Non-profit
Volunteer20
is a special initiative sponsored by CONTACT Community Services to
have residents of the Greater Syracuse area age 21 and older give 20
minutes of their time to complete a confidential survey about giving
time to help others.
The study, conducted by Skaneateles-based research firm Vincent
McCabe, Inc., will help a number of community organizations who rely
on volunteers. As incentive to participate, respondents have the
opportunity to enter a drawing at the end of the survey to win $500
for themselves or for one IRS-recognized charity or other non-profit
of their choice, courtesy of Vincent McCabe, Inc.
Volunteer20
is designed to assist CONTACT with improving volunteer recruitment and
retention for its telephone counseling service. The findings will also
be shared with other non-profit community organizations including
United Way
of Central New York. The study was made possible through a grant from
the Central New York Community Foundation. According to its vice
president Kim Scott, the foundation “welcomes this initiative to
engage more people in taking active steps to improve our community’s
quality of life.”
Greater Syracuse area residents 21 or older can participate in the
survey either online at
www.volunteer20.com or by calling Vincent McCabe, Inc., at
685-7227 or toll free at 1-866-685-7227. It ends when the survey quota
is met, which is expected to be in April
“It is important to have as many people as possible respond to
Volunteer20. Only 20 minutes given by each participating adult in
the Greater Syracuse area will provide a tremendous amount of data to
help CONTACT Community Services and other local agencies attract,
train and recruit the volunteers who are so critical to the success of
our work,” said Jan Liddell, CONTACT's Executive Director.
